Good Day

It's the small things that make me happy. For example, a night to myself, watching Breakfast at Tiffany's (Very good, by the way. I loved it.)

Sleeping in on a school day (aka, having afternoon classes)
A slow, easy-going morning spent talking to a roommate, taking a long shower, and listening to the Beatles.
And last, but certainly not least, finding my long lost, most favorite lipstick. (Which is Rum Raisin... fyi. Because I'm running low ;)

Needle and Thread

One day at a time. One hour at a time. One assignment at a time. One step at a time.
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed right now. But thank goodness for good friends. I had a great chat with my great friend Heather yesterday. It's amazing how in tune she is to the Spirit. She shared things with me that I didn't even know I needed. She articulated things I've been feeling for a really long time, but never knew how to express those feelings. She gave me some advice that I don't think I will ever forget.

Good roommates are a huge blessing too. This girl and this girl and especially this girl. (I love the other two, too. They just don't have blogs. That I know of.) We've started having apartment prayers every night, which I think has become a huge blessing for us, and something I've come to look forward to. So thanks, gals, for being so great.

Why Georgia

I am driving up 85 in the kind of morning
That lasts all afternoon, I'm just stuck inside the gloom
Four more exits to my apartment
But I am tempted to keep the car in drive and leave it all behind

-John Mayer, "Why Georgia"

Such a good song for a kind of gloomy day. The Utahans were right: Winter in Utah is gray.

Be Still My Soul

"The Lord will require sacrifice. He will test our integrity and expect us to make difficult choices. He may ask us to "drop, our net" and walk away from certain situations to follow Him. He will ask us to bless others by freely imparting those material, intellectual, or spiritual gifts that may be ours. This is a refining principle. It is that which moves the metamorphic process from ordinary to extraordinary in the direction of our Savior."

All Good Things

Let me just say that baths, books, and Gene Kelly seem to make everything better.

World Spins Madly On

Pity Party of 1, please.

Today was just one of those days where you just feel plum down. Sure there might be reasons, but it's just a day where from the moment you wake up there's a feeling of ... blah. Blah-ness. I know the Lord has a plan for me, but on days like this, you kind of don't want people to tell you to look at the big picture. You want them to be mad at the world with you. It's one of those days where you are surrounded by people and can still feel totally alone. Funny, isn't it?

In the meantime, the world spins madly on.

We Are Only Getting Better

Out with the old, in with the new.
2011 was a whirlwind of year, to say the least.
Some highlights:

I was a lead in the musical

I was made an aunt for the 9th time by this lovely Sadie Beth

I graduated high school

Moved out of my beautiful home in Virginia

Started college at BYU

Met and quickly became fantastic friends with my roommate

Finished first semester of college

Reunited with friends and family for a magnificent Christmas holiday.

And as with tradition, TRADITION!, I will share with the world my goals for 2012. That will make me more accountable, right?!

1. Pray 2x a day, EVERY day Don't get me wrong, I pray, but sometimes it tends to be when it's convenient.
2. Attend the temple at least twice a month I've heard within the last 48 hours, several times, that temple attendance will bless me and make me happier. I know that is true! So why don't I do it?!
3. Write in my journal every day, even if it is just one word.
4. Make a meal at least once a week. Home cooked, nutritious food.
5. Pray to love others I guess I'm not a people person, eh? Anyways, I just want to be more loving and caring towards others.
6. Gratitude journal Recognize the Lord's hand in my life every day
7. Limit time on Facebook What's so great about it, anyway? I should spend more time living my life, not seeing how others are living theirs.

On another note, my blog has over 1,000 views. I don't know who you all are, but hey thanks for taking the time to check up on my life! It's really not that great, but I'll try to make it more exciting for you all.

So blogger world, It's another year, and I wish you all a very Happy 2012. God bless you all!
